Job Responsibilities

Commercial Contracting

• Structure, draft, review, and negotiate the full range of commercial agreements — supplier and agri-input contracts, service agreements, partnership contracts, and MOUs and NDAs
• Build and maintain contract templates and playbooks so the business can move quickly without repeat legal review on standard terms
• Manage the contract lifecycle end to end: negotiation, execution, filing, and renewal tracking

Corporate & Regulatory Compliance

• Support corporate secretarial work and corporate governance matters for the Indonesian business
• Track and analyse Indonesia’s regulations relevant to agriculture, agri-input distribution, financing, data protection, carbon credit and sustainability, and translate them into practical guidance for the business
• Manage licensing and permitting requirements
• Support compliance programmes, including anti-bribery, data protection, and ESG-linked obligations flowing from our investors and financing partners

Financing & Transactions

• Support financing and funding transactions— whether through equity investment or debt/financing facilities

Operational & Field Risk

• Advise on mitigating risks associated with operating structure
• Work with Operations, Finance, and Operations Excellence teams to identify and mitigate legal risks in business operations

Business Partnering

• Act as first point of contact for commercial teams on day-to-day legal questions, with clear, practical answers rather than caveats
• Escalate what genuinely needs the Head of Legal's attention, and close out the rest independently

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in law (S.H.) from an Indonesian university, with a strong academic record
• Over 4 years of post-qualification experience, comprising at least 2 years at a law firm with a strong transactional practice, plus in-house experience at a company
• Demonstrated managerial-level standing: associate level or above in a law firm setting, or junior/assistant manager or above in a company
• A clear, upward career trajectory with increasing scope and responsibility
• Strong drafting and negotiation skills across commercial agreements
• Fluent written and spoken Bahasa Indonesia and English — you will draft in both and negotiate in both

Must have:

• Ability to harness the law to deliver commercial impacts - you tell the business how to get to its objectives, not only what it can and cannot do
• Structuring ability
• High ownership and ability to operate independently without constant supervision
• Comfort with ambiguity and incomplete information; we are scaling and with it continuously iterating. Precedents often do not exist
• Willingness to go to the field. Understanding how paddy farming operations actually work will make you materially better at this job
• Clear, direct communication with non-lawyers

Nice to have:

• Master's degree in law, business, or economics
• Experience in agribusiness, FMCG, logistics, trade, or technology
• Admission to the Indonesian Bar Association (PERADI)
• Exposure to climate or green financing, impact capital, or ESG-linked funding structures
• Experience in a high-growth startup environment
